Issues with version 2

Recommended Posts

At our office, we have been using mbam for quite a while.  Everything worked fine using v1.75.  After v2 was released, we upgraded to it and started having issues.  We have been through the support group and have tried every possible combination of removing the program, running the mbam clean utility, reinstalling etc.  We ended up reinstalling v1.75 as this is all that would work.

There are 3 of us in the office each running Windows 7 - 64 bit computers.  We are all having the same issue.  On August 28 2014 we paid for another year thinking we were out of active date for the program.  After purchasing the next year, we deleted mbam from each computer and retarted, ran mbam clean and restarted, installed a clean v2 program.  Now all 3 computers are doing the same thing again.

Every time we install v2 (premium 2.0.2.1012), it starts with it running fine.  Within a few days, the UI states - real time protection: no protection - pressing Fix Now does nothing.  Also the updates have to be manually downloaded, it does not work on the schedule.  After a few more days, the old version 1.75 reinstalls itself?  I have no idea how this happens.  You then get a message telling you your files are over 500 days old.  At this point, both v1.75 and v2 are installed.

We have followed every tip provided by the tech support people but nothing works.  Is anyone else having this issue?  This program does not appear to operate correctly under the v2.0.2.1012.

Thanks,

Mike

Hello and :welcome:

As your statement states that you are in a business, you need to seek help from here: Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for Business

That being said, you are using or trying to use Malwarebytes 2.0 in a business environment.  Version 2.0 is only available at the moment for consumers which are home users. The latest version for business is version 1.7x. Using any version of the consumer version of Malwarebytes in a business is against the EULA.

Being that you are a business make sure you have the proper license and are using the correct version for your business. You can get the proper licensing HERE

Thanks for this feedback.  Strange that we have been very specific about how we are using the program and nobody from the support group ever asked any questions about business vs. comsumer use.  Perhaps this makes sense now and we will just revert back to version 1.75 as we were using this before and which never had any issues.

The v2 update was pushed to us automatically from mbam?

Thanks,

Mike

@Firefox I think the answer you gave @Mfluckiger was kind of a blow-off answer. Version 2 is version 2. The fact that the computer technically belongs to a business is moot. The problem is Version 2. It is buggy. I am in the exact same boat. V1.75 worked fine but massive problems started the minuite I upgrade to V2. Program crashes. Updates don't work. It is a mess. I think Malwarebytes needs to confess that this was, by far, not a real good release and start bending over backwards to help users get it running right.

@ ZiggyStardust You are entitled to your opinion... no problem there, however some points...

My answer was not a blow-off answer, I pointed the OP in the right direction and told them how to solve the issue and where they can get the help needed, and also provided links where to get all the info they needed.

1. It does matter if one is using the consumer version of Malwarebytes on a business, its against the EULA. Malwarebytes has a business license, and that is what goes on a business computer.

2. No one is debating that version 2 is version 2. Version 2.x is only available for use on consumer computers not business computers. Version 1.7x is the latest version for business.

3. If you are having issues with version 2 simply post some logs in your own topic (which I replied to already HERE)

4. Malwarebytes never denied it was not a buggy product, in fact they are working round the clock fixing bugs and gathering information from folks having issues to make the product more efficient and to work out the bugs.

5. Malwarebytes does bend over backwards, and helps all sorts of people and they do it for free at that.  The provide Malwarebytes for free, and even the free version removes infections found.  They have a support forum where you can post your issues and they have experts that walk you through fixing the issues with a computer even if its not related to Malwarebytes.
