Program Update

Any word as to when when Malwarebytes intends to correct the issues reported with v2.0.2.1012?

It's been nearly four months and nothing has been forth coming to correct the myriad of issues reported on this forum. The standard response seems to be "do a clean install" as well as the "developers are working on the issue."

Have we reached the end of development for Malwarebytes Anti-Malware?  If not it sure seems that way.

Hi:

It's been nearly four months and nothing has been forth coming to correct the myriad of issues reported on this forum.

This *is* a support forum. :)
When some of the many millions of users have a problem (some of which are due to pre-existing infection, system configuration issues, hardware or software problems or even "operator error"), they come here for support. ;)
The other many millions of users generally wouldn't be expected to post here to say that they have no problems.

The standard response seems to be "do a clean install" as well as the "developers are working on the issue."

Yep.
The former response gets most users back up and running quickly, which is what most users want.
A clean reinstall resolves many minor issues, not just for MBAM but for countless other software applications.
For those for whom it does not, then other steps are needed.
And, yep, if you can point out a software program -- especially a security application -- that works 100% perfectly on 100% of every one of millions of installations, please do share that with us.
No software application can be perfect.
The development team here works hard to improve the product.
But don't expect a ludicrous "rapid release" schedule similar to that for Mozilla, with a new, buggy version every 6 weeks.
They will release a new version when it is ready.

As for the "myriad issues" you report, the staff and experts would be more than happy to help you.
But they would need to know a bit more detail about the problems you are experiencing, in order to do so.

If you would like help, please explain the problems and please read this pinned topic with instructions about providing some basic diagnostic information: Diagnostic Logs.
Then, please post back with all 3 requested logs attached to your next reply.

Thank you,

@daledoc1: Thanks for the reply. I am aware of the purpose of this forum just as I am aware that not all people having issues even know the forum exist.

Most of the issues I incur, as well as my family members and friends that I have recommended Malwarebytes to, are addressed in the forum with a clean install or the developers are working on it response. Unfortunately most of these family members and friends have no idea of how to install, remove and clean reinstall a program. They are nice people but have no desire to learn the inner workings of a computer they just want it to work. Basically they think a computer should work like a TV, turn it on and it works. Even more unfortunate for them they are calling me to ask why a program I recommended is not working properly and I am without a proper answer. It was more for them that I asked then myself. I have volunteered to help them simply because I think they need to be safe on line. Try as I may they are just not interested and refuse to learn anything beyond the basics. I know what you are thinking, they should turn off the computer, unplug it or learn how to use it. I've made that suggestion to them when they have frustrated me to unhealthily levels.

Because of their limited abilities for those that have purchased a license I have removed v2.x and put them back on v1.75 and disabled check for program updates for now. I am aware of the increased ability of v2.x but at least they won't have the issues with v1.75 they are having with v2.x. Those that are still in trial I have put them back on the free v1.75 and recommended they wait on the license purchase until Malwarebytes is in a more stable state.

@gonzo:Thank you for taking the time to respond. It was not my expectations to get a specific date but more to get conformation that the developers are really working on these issues and some sort of progress report. When it comes to programs that are developed to protect consumers and purchased for that purpose I would think that four months without progress is a rather long time. It is my belief, correct or not, that reputation and trust is the thing that people look to when considering a software to protect their data. Once that trust and reputation is lost it is never to be regained.

The developers and the QA group are both working on it very diligently, and the points you mentioned in your last sentence ring very clear at all levels of the company. They aren't trying to make a half-baked release.  They're trying to do it right, and that means uncovering the wrong regardless of how well it hides in the codebase.
