Hello

Could you help a fairly non tech-savvy user please?

Dell Inspiron 7720 laptop.

Windows 8.1 64-bit.

Kaspersky IS 2014.

MBAM Premium 2.0.2.1012.

MBAE Free 1.04.1.1012.

Spyware Blaster 5.0

Win Patrol 32.0.2014.5

Crypto Prevent 7.1

IBM Trusteer Rapport 1403.78 (My Bank insists on me having this).

Recently, when I power-on the laptop, I get the error message/code: 'wscript.exe could not start (0xc0000018)'.  In addition, when I try to start Internet Explorer 11 (iexplorer.exe) or Java (javaw.exe), I get the same error message/code.

I followed one of the closed threads here and uninstalled MBAE then rebooted and the errors disappeared.  However, if I download/reinstall MBAE the errors recur.

Is there a way to correct this, or is MBAE incompatible with my setup?  Do I even need MBAE with my existing anti-malware?

Thanks :)

It looks like the upgrade to 1.04 may have encountered an error. Please perform the following steps:

1- Uninstall MBAE from Control Panel

2- Reboot

3- Delete C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit

4- Download and reinstall MBAE 1.04 from our website

5- Reboot

Do you still encounter the same problems?

Thank you for your reply, pbust.

I've followed your instructions and the wscript.exe, iexplore.exe and javaw.exe error message/codes no longer appear.  However, if I click on the desktop MBAE shortcut icon, I get no response (i.e. no interface window), and after a period the error message 'Malwarebytes Anti Exploit Protection is not started.  The Anti Exploit process will be terminated'.

Thanks :)

Thank you pbust for all your time and help sorting this out via remote.

To those following this thread, it seems as if one of my existing security products had intercepted the MBAE installation and locked/suspended mbae.exe.  Thankfully pbust was able to sort it!

Thanks :)
