Hello, The newer version of MBAM crashes when it updates or when it scans (after skipping update).  I did the complete uninstall and install, tried doing it in safe mode, etc.  I was having problems with this a few weeks ago but I think I have malware I think I clicked on the wrong link on cnet and now have a neurowise problem).  I have attached the scan files.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you, Jennifer

Hello and welcome:

We would generally like to see all 3 logs from BOTH log sets, as described here: Diagnostic Logs
So, it would help to see the Logset2, the CheckResults.txt log from mbam-check.

However, you did mention that you think you are infected?
We aren't permitted to work on malware diagnosis and removal here in this section.

So, for expert assistance, I suggest that you please follow the advice in this pinned topic: Available Assistance For Possibly Infected Computers.
It explains the options for free, expert help >>AND<< the preliminary steps to take to expedite the process.

As you have already run FRST, you just need to start a new post (with the same logs attached to it) in the malware removal section of the forum.
A malware analyst will guide you through the scanning and cleanup process.

Thanks,

Thank you, Dale!  I think I had this problem before I got the virus, though (I was unable to update and I didn't have time to deal with it.  I'm sure you've never heard THAT before).  Attached is the other log.  Is there any setting or reason why I can't install it?  The old version with the red icon worked just fine.  Thanks! Jennifer

Hi, thanks for that.

We'll need to wait for staff to review your logs.

However, a preliminary check shows that the steps in this pinned topic MIGHT resolve your MBAM issues: What to do: Runtime error - database stuck on 2014.03.04 - program 'stopped working' errorIt'

It can't hurt and might be worth a try before heading over to the malware removal section for a deeper look.

BTW, is this a work computer?

Thanks,

Hello,

My computer seems to be free of any malware now, but I am still having the same problem with MBAM.  I can open it, task manager says it appears to be running, but it crashes on update and when scanning.  I've attached new logs to this post in case anything changed after the scrubbing my computer got yesterday.  Thanks!

Thank you Dale and Deity,

That seemed to do the trick!  Question, in my Windows Task Manager, a new file called "csrss.exe" is now showing up, and a quick google search tells me that this is linked somehow to the runtime error message that I fixed with your link.  Did unzipping and running the program in the link above install or activate this csrss.exe or is this something else?  Thank you very much for your help, I really appreciate it!

Jennifer

The file "csrss.exe" is a valid windows file, the legitimate program file is in \%WINDIR%\System32\, however it has been known to be used by malware.

The steps in we had you follow in the topic had nothing to do with that file. You should be fine, however if you want to be for certain that you are not infected, then you need to seek help from the experts as mentioned by daledoc1 in an earlier post...

If you think your infected, feel free to follow the instructions below to receive free, one-on-one expert assistance in checking your system and clearing out any infections and correcting any damage done by the malware.

Please see the following pinned topic which has information on how to get help with this: Available Assistance for Possibly Infected Computers

Thank you
