I have the premium edition v2014.09.09.02.  I have set it to not run automatically.  I just want to do a run when I tell it to do so.

I started my computer this morning and first thing I get a message that it has finished a scan and it was fine.

I do not want it to run automatically ever.

is there a way to set Malwarebytes this way?

Hi:

Welcome. :)

Just to be sure I understand, you have the paid, premium version of MBAM 2.0 that provides real-time protection against malware alongside your AV, and you want to disable all of the real-time protection and other features, so that it is just a manual, on-demand scanner?

If that's the case, then you will lose real-time protection against zero-hour and zero-day threats often missed by AV programs.

You will only be able to try to remove infections that get past your AV onto your computer.

If you really want to do that, there are 2 options:

  1. Dashboard > Settings > Advanced Settings > Disable (remove the check-mark from) all of the boxes there > reboot the computer.
  2. Completely uninstall and then reinstall as the Free version and do NOT activate with your license ID/key, as explained here: MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x

If you do this, please be sure to remember to manually check for updates before running a manual scan.

Better & safer option: allow us to help you with whatever issues or problems you might be having, so that you can take advantage of the Premium features you paid for, to protect your system.

For example, if the program is starting with Windows despite being configured not to, there is a fix for that: https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?/topic/146032-mbam-always-starts-with-windows/

But, it's up to you. :)

We'll be happy to help you, if you'd like.

Cheers,

Hi:

No, that is NOT true.

It's largely a ploy by some of the AV vendors based more on marketing than on any bonafide compatibility problem.

In fact, MBAM Premium is specifically designed and tested to run alongside all of the major AV programs to provide complementary, layered protection against the threats that the AVs often miss.

(See the links in my previous reply.)

Having said that, temporarily uninstalling MBAM to troubleshoot problems with one's AV is not unreasonable, if needed.

Nor is it unreasonable to proactively set mutual exclusions between MBAM and your AV, so that they won't "bother" each other.  We'd be happy to help you with that.

So, are you having a problem with MBAM?

If so, please describe the problem in detail as best you can.

We will then help you to resolve it.

Thanks,
