Anti malware frozen

the scan has "frozen" on one file for the past hour.  What happens if I delete the file C:\users\owner\appdata\local\microsoft\windows mail\stationery\tanspecks.jpg

 

the screen bar, circle and bottom box are still moving

Hi:

 

The file showing in the scan window probably isn't the actual file on which the scan appears to have stalled.

In any event, there are many reasons why a scan might appear to freeze or hang, especially on older, slower systems.

These include scanning within archives, rootkit scanning, corrupt files, bad disk sectors, software conflicts (e.g. with antivirus), even malware.

 

I would be patient and leave it be for a while longer.

If it doesn't budge, then you might have to cancel the scan (that might also take time, so please be patient).
