Malwarebytes free starting randonly?

Recommended Posts

Hi:

Normally, that would not be possible.

MBAM Free is just a manual, on-demand scanner.

It does not run in real-time or start on its own.

Only the Trial and Premium versions feature automated, scheduled tasks, such as update checks and scans.

I suspect that either you are running the 14-day Trial version or that something is wonky after your Trial version expired?

If you open the GUI (main dashboard) from your desktop shortcut icon, what does it say for the program version in the ribbon at the very top -- Free? Trial? Premium?

Thanks,

Hello.

Just opened the Malwarebytes, It's on the free version.

I haven't been using my PC for 2 weeks, The Trial version probably expired some days ago.

Yes, maybe so.

Try rebooting the computer to see if that resolves the issue.

Otherwise, you might want to cleanly reinstall to get back to the Free version.

The instructions are here: MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x

If you plan to upgrade to Premium (based on your other topic here), you won't need to reinstall again after the clean reinstall.

Just ACTIVATE it using your license ID and key, as shown here.

I hope this helps,

Just tried the restarting, no success.

Will try the Clean Removal.

Re: "More Reply Options"
There is no need to quote the replies in your own topic, especially when it is just you and one helper.
We understand that you are replying to the person helping you. :)

Unless it needed to explicitly clarify to which person you are replying (if it's a group discussion) or to a specific point, use of the Quote button is usually not needed.
It makes the forum thread cluttered and hard to follow.
That is all. :)

Yes, that is correct.

The Free version of the program does not run in real time.

It should not start on its own.

So, it looks as if the clean reinstall solved the problem you originally reported????? :)

If you plan to stay with the Free version, please remember to manually check for updates ("Update Now") before every scan.

Please remember that the Free version can only CLEAN infections that are already on the computer.

It does NOT provide PROTECTION to help prevent infection from getting onto the computer.

If you plan to activate it with a Premium license ID & key, you'll just need to use the instructions here when you receive your license.

Are you all set now?
