iexplore.exe won't remove.

Recommended Posts

Evening,

Wife's computer picked up some fun things to deal with.  MBAM was picking up some of it, not all of it.  Ended up getting AVG and it cleaned a lot more.  ZBOT trojans and others amongst them.  I found the downloader and injector files myself; however, neither MBAM or my other products are picking up what is causing the iexplore.exe tabs to get opened.

She is running on XP still (weeee, picking up various parts to build a new rig as we speak).  As soon as we flip the connection to the net on iexplore starts wanting open.  Most open processes I have seen of it was 9.  Trojan wise the comp seems okay (though I am no where near 100% of that) but something is still on there wanting access to the net.  What pops up seems to be coming from the restore files and volume files it seems.

Thoughts?  Tools?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello and :welcome: :

We can't work on malware diagnostics and removal in this sub-section of the forum.

So, for expert assistance, I suggest that you please follow the advice in this pinned topic: Available Assistance For Possibly Infected Computers.

It explains the options and preliminary steps for getting free, expert help.
A malware analyst will guide you through the cleanup process.

Thanks,
