Malwarebytes Stuck Scanning File [Filesystem Objects: Working] [File:WinStoreUI.dll.mui]

Recommended Posts

Hello!

Does anyone know how to resolve this problem? Malwarebytes always keep on getting stuck scanning on a file when performing a custom scan every time. Threat scan work fine.

This is the setting I always use.:post-171718-0-02363700-1408665966_thumb.

Here is one of the scans which I let scan from night time until morning hoping that maybe it just takes time, but 14 hours of scan and not done is really insane.:post-171718-0-69407000-1408665967_thumb.

Here is another scan I tried after doing a disk clean-up:post-171718-0-11493900-1408665962_thumb.

Here is the scan after I decided to stop it because three hours have passed and the scan has not made any movement from WinStoreUI.dll.mui.:post-171718-0-21581800-1408665964_thumb.

Using Windows 8.1.

I did a restore on the laptop using the option "Remove everything and reinstall Windows". (Before I did this, the custom scan worked well from start to finish without having a pause for long time. Usually scanning for at least between 3 to 2 hours.)

Running Norton 360 Multidevice.

Thank you!

Well something crashed MBAM.

Please Run TFC by OldTimer to clear temporary files:

  • Download TFC from here and save it to your desktop.
  • Close any open programs and Internet browsers.
  • Double click TFC.exe to run it on XP (for Vista and Windows 7 right click and choose "Run as administrator") and once it opens click on the Start button on the lower left of the program to allow it to begin cleaning.
  • Please be patient as clearing out temp files may take a while.
  • Once it completes you may be prompted to restart your computer, please do so.
  • Once it's finished you may delete TFC.exe from your desktop or save it for later use for the cleaning of temporary files.

Then see if it still hangs or not and let me know.

Hello!

It's still similar since the file being scanned is making the scan hold and at this test three hours at the least and not yet finish.

TFC scan was made and the laptop was shut down after it was done.

post-171718-0-64189800-1408744260_thumb.

When it was turned on a threat scan and custom scan on drive D was made. Both scan was successful.

post-171718-0-35199900-1408744355_thumb.

Then a custom scan was made on drive C, the main drive.

Here is the moment where it started to pause scanning the file WinStoreUI.dll.mui:

post-171718-0-65147600-1408744716_thumb.

Here is the moment where I decided to stop it since more than three hours have passed and not a movement from where it started to halt:

post-171718-0-80851500-1408744259_thumb.

Based on the initial Screenshot provided from the beginning and now. The file under scan is the same but the path has now changed after doing the TFC scan.

From:    C:\Windows\WinStore\sk-SK\WinStoreUI.dll.mui

To now: C:\Windows\WinStore\sv-SE\WinStoreUI.dll.mui

Same file but now different sub-folder location

I hope this can be resolved soon. Because I am planning to buy this software but the custom scan keeps on being halted by this crazy file.

Let me have you please run a Full Disk Check on your system drive.  If needed here are some links on how to run a Disk Check.

On Windows 8 the disk check log is in the Event Logs under Application with a heading source of  Chkdsk

How to Check a Drive for Errors with "chkdsk" in Windows 8

How to Read the Event Viewer Log for Check Disk (chkdsk) in Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8

Basically choose OPTION 2 and run this command from an elevated admin prompt.

CHKDSK C: /R

When done please copy/paste the results from the Event Logs back here.

Thanks

Please restart the computer and then do the following.

  1. Please uninstall your current version of MBAM and reinstall the latest version. MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x
  2. If that does not correct the issue then please read the following and post back the requested logs. - Diagnostic Logs
