Hello,

I have a problem that looks similar to at least two others I've seen in the forum in the last day or so -- particularly this one: https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?/topic/155233-java-adware/

Now seem to have two infected computers -- this Win 8.1 laptop, and a Win 7 desktop.

I ran the first two steps described on that thread but with different results from the other user.

Malwarebytes log attached to post.malware scan.txt

Malwarebytes offered to quarantine several files, but I have neither accepted nor rejected this pending your advice.

Tried to do the described virustotal step, but found two setup files in equivalent folder for my username.  Using the one without the "(1)" behind it, got this result: https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/ec06c63efe144ae51fc1c18e68baa5330eed41cba13303145ae4df063b98a956/analysis/

I hope that gives you some idea where to start -- I know I'm in over my head!

Hi, and thanks for checking in with me.  I'm not sure if I still have an issue - symptom is gone.  When I left it before I had not chosen to select the quarantine that malwarebytes recommended (log embedded above).  When I did not get a response after a while, I accepted.  Since then the symptom has ended, so maybe I'm OK now?  Is there anything else I should test?

By the way, the other computer I mentioned, the desktop running Win7, did NOT have Malwarebytes run on it yet, but it seems to have lost the symptoms as well.  I do plan to install and run on that one too but have not done so yet.

Any recommendations for either machine?

Thanks again,
