Website Live Protection will not enable on licensed copy

Recommended Posts

Hello.

Purchased your Malware Bytes Premium today.  In trial version, Website live protection would not enable in any capacity.  You attempt to turn it on, it goes on for one second and it shuts off.

I removed the software, utilized your cleaning tool, rebooted.  Reinstalled, same problem.  Removed, cleaning tool, removed avast free antivirus. Rebooted. Reinstalled Mbam without antivirus, same issue.  Removed, clean tool rebooted.

Installed, activated, same problem. (without antivirus software) I left the machine free of malware from a Malware Bytes stand point and also installed a licensed copy of Kaspersky Internet Security. (no viruses as per Kaspersky) Both programs are whitelisted to eachother.

I am in tech.  No need to post logs.

I've seen many threads on this with no solution.  Is there a bug in your software, or does combofix / hijackthis need to be run with both antivirus and mbam disabled?  This issues needs to be resolved for good.

Windows 7, all updates, on HP Pavilion laptop.

Cheers

Hi. Thanks for your response.  This is your standard one though. Perhaps you guys have not found the solution. I will run hijack this first and retry.  Then combofix and retry.  If these do not work, I will upload the logs.

Thank you

Yes it is a standard response as it works for the vast majority of users that have an issue. Self medicating your computer with tools and not understanding what's really going on can potentially cause more problems.

I would highly recommend that you post the requested logs so that we can see what's going on and offer assistance.

Thank you

Please open REGEDIT.EXE and remove the 2 entries below. One should only use compatibility mode if the program has a known issue or simply cannot run. If at all possible it's best not to use compatibility settings.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\appCompatFlags\Layers

    C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\aswRunDll.exe
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Hewlett-Packard\HP Support Framework\HPSF.exe

Please read the following article cocerning the use of MSCONFIG and restore it back to NORMAL please and if wanted uninstall other items or use another tool to prevent program loading.
Msconfig Is Not A Startup Manager

Please go into Control Panel, Add/Remove and uninstall ALL versions of Java and then run the following.

Please download JavaRa-1.16 and save it to your computer.

  • Double click to open the zip file and then select all and choose Copy.
  • Create a new folder on your Desktop named RemoveJava and paste the files into this new folder.
  • Quit all browsers and other running applications.
  • Right-click on JavaRa.exe in RemoveJava folder and choose Run as administrator to start the program.
  • From the drop-down menu, choose English and click on Select.
  • JavaRa will open; click on Remove Older Versions to remove the older versions of Java installed on your computer.
  • Click Yes when prompted. When JavaRa is done, a notice will appear that a logfile has been produced. Click OK.
  • A logfile will pop up. Please save it to a convenient location and post it in your next reply.

Next:

Please Run TFC by OldTimer to clear temporary files:

  • Download TFC from here and save it to your desktop.
  • Close any open programs and Internet browsers.
  • Double click TFC.exe to run it on XP (for Vista and Windows 7 right click and choose "Run as administrator") and once it opens click on the Start button on the lower left of the program to allow it to begin cleaning.
  • Please be patient as clearing out temp files may take a while.
  • Once it completes you may be prompted to restart your computer, please do so.
  • Once it's finished you may delete TFC.exe from your desktop or save it for later use for the cleaning of temporary files.

This could potentiall be a hard drive issue or possibly from a software conflict.

Please run a Full Disk Check on your system drive.  If needed here are some links on how to run a Disk Check.

On Windows 7 the disk check log is in the Event Logs under Application with a heading source of  Wininit

When done please copy/paste the results of the disk check from the Event Logs back here.

However in further review of your logs THIS is your main issue.
