Greetings!

Our team does IT support for a large number of corporate office and remote PC users. I recently inquired through proper workplace channels as to the licensing for Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Remediation Tool (RT).

The surprising answer I received is that RT is "meant to be licensed by the total number of machines the licenses will be deployed to."

As far as I can tell, RT is not intended to be deployed to all endpoints proactively; it is portable so it can be used by a technician to clean infected endpoints reactively, when a user calls in.

Can you please clarify the basics of the licensing for RT?

Does RT need to be licensed for the entire pool of endpoints that it will potentially be used on?

Or, can RT licenses just be purchased for each IT support technician so they can use it to clean infected endpoints?

Thanks!

Max

Yes, that's correct. From a license and legal perspective you might only have a portion of your endpoints which you are currently planning on using the tool on. But what we are licensing is the ability to run it in the entirety of your network. Imagine for ex tomorrow 100% of your endpoints become infected. You'd be running the tool unlicensed at that point.

What we are licensing is the ability to remediate malware infections from your entire network, regardless of whether that remediation is done one-by-one, group-by-group or everything at once.

Thanks for your PM xMax.

There is a site license model which we are introducing and which is more economical. I will get you in touch with someone from sales that has information on this and I hope can help you out. Please look for a PM from me.
