Can't Remove PUP.Optional.MySearchDial

Recommended Posts

Hello. I am at my wits end here. I cannot seem to remove the above mentioned thing. I went through and seemingly it is gone from Chrome and did everything it said to do to remove it. I even set Chrome (all user accounts) back to default. I would just really like to get this removed. MB keeps finding it every time I run and though I hit quarantine it never goes away. Please help. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hello,

They call me TwinHeadedEagle around here, and I'll be working with you.

Before we start please read and note the following:

Limit your internet access to posting here, some infections just wait to steal typed-in passwords.
Please be patient. I know it is frustrating when your PC isn't working properly, but malware removal takes time.
Don't run any scripts or tools on your own, unsupervised usage may cause more harm than good.
Do not paste the logs in your posts, attachments make my work easier. There is a Attach Files option below which you can use to attach your reports. Always attach reports from all tools.
Stay with me to the end, the absence of symptoms doesn't mean that your machine is fully operational.
Note that we may live in totally different time zones, what may cause some delays between answers.
Do not ask for help for your business PC. Companies are making revenue via computers, so it is good thing to pay someone to repair it.
If I don't hear from you within 3 days from this initial or any subsequent post, then this thread will be closed.

icon_idea.gif I can't foresee everything, so if anything unexpected happens, please stop and inform me!
icon_idea.gif There are no silly questions. Never be afraid to ask if in doubt!

P2P/Piracy Warning:

  • If you're using Peer 2 Peer software such as uTorrent, BitTorrent or similar you must either fully uninstall them or completely disable them from running while being assisted here.
  • Failure to remove or disable such software will result in your topic being closed and no further assistance being provided.
  • If you have illegal/cracked software, cracks, keygens, etc. on the system, please remove or uninstall them now and read the policy on Piracy.

In case it is of any concern, I wanted to inform you that there may be a bit of a delay until my next reply (only hours worth, not days). I apologize. It is late and nearly 4am here and though I am worried and wish to get this solved asap, I know it is best to try and keep a cool head and be patient and right now I am just a little anxious and upset. Again, I thank you for your help thus far and after some needed sleep, I will return to do whatever you suggest or instruct next with a cooler head and better patience. Again, I thank you for your help in this matter and I will, of course, stick through until the end and follow through with things as best as I can.
Best Regards,
foxotr

Seems to be running fine, but I wasn't going on any websites or doing anything until I heard anything back from you. It appears to be fine and that is the first MB didn't come up with that threat, so I took that as a good sign. Is there anything else I should?

Testing it just by browsing through folders like pictures and documents and opening a few programs, it seems, I think, to be running a little faster and responding better, I feel. What I meant to say in my previous response was, is there anything else I should do or need to do or am I okay to turn my virus protection back on and resume normal web browsing and computer usage? I just want to make sure I'm in the clear and do everything I need to do before I jump back into normal usage.

Yes, your PC is ready for normal usage now :)

  • 4 weeks later...

Ah and here I thought we were all clear. To clarify, my system has been running smoothly and no problems at all. I also downloaded all recomended software from my gracious and awesome helper and even recommended a lot of it to fellow PC users who I thought could benefit and sang the praises of your help here. I know this is not your fault, but here I was today performing my monthly virus scan and that was all fine, but I always run MalwareBytes after a virus scan and lo and behold our hateful little friend PUP.Optional.MySearchDial has reappeared. How? I don't for the life of me know. i do little other than checking email, occasional facebook and writing on my blog. After the last scare I changed all passwords on all blogs, emails, everything and added extra security through my phone so that to login most times on things it sends me a code from my phone etc. I took precautions and here it is rearing it's ugly little head. I have already limited my usage of the internet as I remembered being instructed to last time and saved the log from my MalwareBytes scan which I will now attach here. Any help is once again appreciated and if I could buy you a million drinks and bake all the cookies for your excellent help and time, believe me, I would. Thanks again and sorry to have to do this, but you were such a great help that I knew right away I wanted to come back here for help.
