Malwarebytes stopped working for no reason

Recommended Posts

I am a 63 yr old female who has never had to do any computer fixes myself as I don't have the time or inclination to know about anti-virus program problems and fixes. That was left to my computer repair company locally, who originally recommended and installed Malwarebytes on my computer. In the past year I have had so many updating problems with Malwarebytes that they had to fix, and now with it quitting all together, they suggested I get a different anti-virus protection after I told them that I got no response when I contacted Malwarebytes Help.   They said a lot of their customers were having problems with Malwarebytes, and considering that there was no reply to my plea for help from Malwarebytes that's what they would suggest. So I did install another free anti-virus until I research the best anti-virus protection  out there with a support team to help when asked.  I'm very, very disappointed in Malwarebytes.

Hello and :welcome: , @wanthelp:

We're disappointed to learn that you have been having so many problems.

We will be more than happy to try to help you sort them out.

Yes, the help desk is quite busy.  Due to the high volume of support requests, it can take a few days for a support agent to pick up your ticket.

>>>Do you have an open ticket at the help desk???

It would help us to better help you if you could provide a bit more specific detail about the problem -- does it not open? does it crash/close during a scan? does it fail to update? something else? etc...

>>Do you have a specific error message that you are seeing?

In any event, we need to see a bit of basic diagnostic info in order to know where to start to help you.

  • Please read the following pinned topic, follow the steps there, and then please post back attached to your next reply the 3 requested logs - Diagnostic Logs (There will be 3 logs: FRST.txt, Addition.txt and CheckResults.txt)
  • NOTE: There is an FAQ section with valuable information located here - Common Questions, Issues, and their Solutions

One point of clarification for anyone who might read this forum topic -- MBAM is NOT an anti-virus and is not a substitute for an AV.

It is a specialized program designed to run alongside a robust AV, either free or paid.

See here: Does Malwarebytes Anti-Malware replace antivirus software?

Thanks,
