Fake Adobe Update Malware

Recommended Posts

I am directed to a fake adobe update pages when I access google.com and youtube.com. This has occured to multiple devices connected to my router (2 PCs and an iPad). . I have run Malwarebytes and found a few tracking cookies as well as hitmanPro which turned up more tracking cookies. The problem still persists after scanning.

Furthermore, after installing Malwarebytes I am getting a  Malicious Website Block popping out frequently. It points to an IP address of 146.185.220.85 which is the DNS server address according to ipconfig. The process it blocks is svchost.exe. From Google it appears that problem may stem from my router (TP-Link TD-W8901G).

I have attached the FRST logs to the post.

Hello,

They call me TwinHeadedEagle around here, and I'll be working with you.

Before we start please read and note the following:

Limit your internet access to posting here, some infections just wait to steal typed-in passwords.
Please be patient. I know it is frustrating when your PC isn't working properly, but malware removal takes time.
Don't run any scripts or tools on your own, unsupervised usage may cause more harm than good.
Do not paste the logs in your posts, attachments make my work easier. There is a Attach Files option below which you can use to attach your reports. Always attach reports from all tools.
Stay with me to the end, the absence of symptoms doesn't mean that your machine is fully operational.
Note that we may live in totally different time zones, what may cause some delays between answers.
Do not ask for help for your business PC. Companies are making revenue via computers, so it is good thing to pay someone to repair it.
If I don't hear from you within 3 days from this initial or any subsequent post, then this thread will be closed.

icon_idea.gif I can't foresee everything, so if anything unexpected happens, please stop and inform me!
icon_idea.gif There are no silly questions. Never be afraid to ask if in doubt!

(XP users click run after receipt of Windows Security Warning - Open File).

I have completed all the steps and am attaching the requested logs. However, when running FRST with the fix file, my anti virus flagged as malicious software and deleted it. I closed the anti virus (Trend Micro Titanium) just to run the scan but I cannot reactivate it and it no longer starts up when I reboot the system.

I no longer receive the fake adobe update page when I log onto youtube.com and google.com. I am still getting a malicious website blocked alert from MalwareBytes every few seconds. It is what I described in the OP.

Should I reinstall the anti virus? I still have the download link in my email.
