Malwarebytes icon says text only

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have been running Malwarebytes with no problems for a while, however the Windows 8 laptop got the Ukash thing and i have been trying to get rid of it.  I have to say at this point I am not great at these things...

Any how I have done a system restore and then I went to run Malwarebytes, when I clicked on the icon it tell me this is text only.  My next step was to try and install it again as I assumed it had gone after the system restore, however i was told it was already installed and couldn't be again... Next I tried to uninstall, thinking I could then reinstall.. no luck it tells me I can't uninstall.  No matter I thought I would come back to that... so I next downloaded Hitman Pro and ran that, it found 174 threats, which I think I got rid of but after all that the Ukash is still there, absolutely no change.

So, my question is, how do I get malwarebytes back on the laptop...once I do I plan to upgrade.

Any help would be gratefully received.

Regards.

Jane

Hello and :welcome:

Yes the system restore did indeed break your Malwarebytes. A clean re-install should solve it. See below

Let's try this first....
