geigerp99 Posted August 4, 2014 ID:862140 Share Posted August 4, 2014 Maybe I'm the only one facing this issue. I keep my PC very clean (IT Manager). I run SAS, CCLEANER, AVG, and MBAM regularly. Haven't been infected in years. (Note: I use the free version of MBAM so I'm not expecting help from tech support. I used to use the reg version at work and think the free version is adequate for my needs). So I run the aforementioned without issue and then MBAM which wants to update to the latest version. Sure no problem in 7 years. Now it does not work. Symptoms: Starts nice new interface. Hit update,,,, nice status bar rolling,,, closes. Try running a scan same thing. What I've tried so far (which is about everything). Note" same exact experience after each idea. 1. Remove MBAM reboot. Re-install, nope.2. Remove MBAM reboot safe wn re-install. nope3. Remove MBAM reboot run CCLEANER re-install. nope4. Run MBAM Anti-Rootkit. nothing5. Run TDSS-Killer. nothing6. Windows update maybe a DLL or something, no updates.7. WIN Firewall add all MBAM .exe. nope8. Shutoff AVG remove and re-install, reboot. nope9. Run RKILL. nothing10. Smash head on KYBD, doesn't help.11. Run MBAM removal, reboot into safe wn. no dice12 Read every forum I can find. nothing really applies.13. Post this message. Help if you can! I recommend my clients buy MBAM and have loved the program for over 8 years, I'm now thinking I've either got something nasty or MBAM is conflicting with something strange. Thanks to anyone who can help!
daledoc1 Posted August 4, 2014 ID:862141 Share Posted August 4, 2014 Hello and : We're certainly disappointed to learn that you are having so much trouble. And I understand from your detailed narrative that you have reinstalled the program at least once, to no avail.Having said that, it's not quite clear whether you were able to follow the prescribed, "best practices" method of removal and reinstall using the mbam-clean utility? As such (and with the other troubleshooting you already tried), it would be a good idea to try a clean reinstall once more, so that we have a "clean" starting point. So, we would suggest that you please start the process as follows:Please follow the steps in this pinned topic to uninstall your current version of MBAM and reinstall the latest build - MBAM Clean Removal Process 2xIf that does not correct the issue, then please read the following and post back attached to your next replythe 3 requested logs - Diagnostic LogsNOTE: There is an FAQ section with valuable information located here - Common Questions, Issues, and their SolutionsIf step #1 doesn't resolve your issues, then the logs from step #2 will be helpful. We may also need to collect some crash dumps, but let's start with the easier steps first. geigerp99 Posted August 4, 2014 Author ID:862426 Share Posted August 4, 2014 Did step 1 yesterday and again today and got the same result. BTW I have 6 other systems in the house and updated all with no issues. This is quite the puzzle. Attached are the logs. I really appreciate the help I don't want to run into this issue in front of a client! Thanks for the help!Addition.txtCheckResults.txtFRST.txt
daledoc1 Posted August 4, 2014 ID:862431 Share Posted August 4, 2014 Hi: Until the staff arrives to formally review your logs, a couple of suggestions come to mind: >>Your checkresults.txt log suggests that the method described here might resolve your issue -- it's worth a try and cannot hurt: What to do: Runtime error - database stuck on 2014.03.04 - program stopped>>Also, you might try setting mutual exclusions between MBAM and AVG.The screenshot below shows how to put the AV folder (in my case, for KIS) into the MBAM Malware Exclusions. And the MBAM files to exclude in AVG are listed below.>>It also looks as if you've been running some "disk optimizers"/"tweakers"/"registry cleaners", e.g. Diskeeper? These sorts of program can wreak all sorts of havoc and are generally not recommended. And the staff may have additional suggestions for you. Please post back and let us know how it goes. Thanks, -------------------------------------Please exclude the following files from your Antivirus Software for your version of Windows:For 32 bit versions of Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 & Windows 8:C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbam.exeC:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamdor.exeC:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbampt.exeC:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exeC:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamscheduler.exe For 64 bit versions of Windows Vista or Windows 7 & 8:C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbam.exeC:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamdor.exeC:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbampt.exeC:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exeC:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware \mbamscheduler.exeNote: If you are using a software firewall besides the built in Windows Firewall, you'll need to exclude MBAM.EXE and MBAMSERVICE.EXE from it as well.Note: Once that's done, please make sure that if either of those programs has any sort of web filter, that you add the following as a trusted site:data-cdn.mbamupdates.com
