My computer is extremely slow

Recommended Posts

Hi! I am having serious problems with computer performance. Whole system initialization takes approx. one minute (sometimes even more) until I can do something on my pc. Even when everything seems to be loaded I have to wait a bit more to have real time keyboard input without delays. I work a lot with such tools as 3ds max or unity and I have noticed that my computer successively decreased its performance.

I have cleaned up my autostart and reduced it to minimum (there are only drivers and some extra stuff like daemon tools left). Services has been reduced too. I thought I had a nasty rootkit on my computer so I checked the system with adwCleaner and RogueKiller and found a bunch of problems which have been deleted. That wasn't so helpful, windows is still a pottage.

I thought I could find a clue in system events and found one interesting thing:

\??\C:\Windows\SysWow64\drivers\dhahelper.sys has been blocked from loading due to incompatibility with this system. Please contact your software vendor for a compatible version of the driver.

On the top of that I have a problem with windows updates- It fails to install for a month.

I need help on this from experts, it's quite overwhelming.

I would be very grateful for helping me on this.

This is my newest DDS log and the rest of interesting informations is in attachment

Hello,

They call me TwinHeadedEagle around here, and I'll be working with you.

Before we start please read and note the following:

icon_arrow.gif Limit your internet access to posting here, some infections just wait to steal typed-in passwords.
icon_arrow.gif Please be patient. I know it is frustrating when your PC isn't working properly, but malware removal takes time.
icon_arrow.gif Don't run any scripts or tools on your own, unsupervised usage may cause more harm than good.
icon_arrow.gif Do not paste the logs in your posts, attachments make my work easier. There is a Attach Files option below which you can use to attach your reports. Always attach reports from all tools.
icon_arrow.gif Stay with me to the end, the absence of symptoms doesn't mean that your machine is fully operational.
icon_arrow.gif Note that we may live in totally different time zones, what may cause some delays between answers.
icon_arrow.gif Do not ask for help for your business PC. Companies are making revenue via computers, so it is good thing to pay someone to repair it.
icon_arrow.gif If I don't hear from you within 3 days from this initial or any subsequent post, then this thread will be closed.

icon_idea.gif I can't foresee everything, so if anything unexpected happens, please stop and inform me!
icon_idea.gif There are no silly questions. Never be afraid to ask if in doubt!

P2P/Piracy Warning:

  • If you're using Peer 2 Peer software such as uTorrent, BitTorrent or similar you must either fully uninstall them or completely disable them from running while being assisted here.
  • Failure to remove or disable such software will result in your topic being closed and no further assistance being provided.
  • If you have illegal/cracked software, cracks, keygens, etc. on the system, please remove or uninstall them now and read the policy on Piracy.

Thanks for quick respond.

I have done as you said. However, there was a problem with Anti-Malware. History is empty (it saves every action or update I have done but details of scan logs are emty or contain 0-values). Before I start this thread I have done a scan on my own but I have noticed that I cannot export logs to txt file (it crashes during export) but xml logs are ok. So I have done this scan once more as you said and this time I put all threats to quarantine (by the previous scan I have done nothing with those threats). The rest seems to be ok, requested files are attached.

FRST.gif Fix with Farbar Recovery Scan Tool

icon_exclaim.gif This fix was created for this user for use on that particular machine. icon_exclaim.gif
icon_exclaim.gif Running it on another one may cause damage and render the system unstable. icon_exclaim.gif

Download attached fixlist.txt file and save it to the Desktop:

Both files, FRST and fixlist.txt have to be in the same location or the fix will not work!

  • Right-click on FRST.gif icon and select RunAsAdmin.jpg Run as Administrator to start the tool.
(XP users click run after receipt of Windows Security Warning - Open File).
  • Press the Fix button just once and wait.
  • If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
  • When finished FRST will generate a log on the Desktop, called Fixlog.txt.

Please attach it to your reply.

adwcleaner_new.png Fix with AdwCleaner

Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode and save the file to your desktop.

  • Right-click on adwcleaner_new.png icon and select RunAsAdmin.jpg Run as Administrator to start the tool.
  • Follow the prompts and click Scan.
  • When finished, please click Clean.
  • Upon completion, click Report. A log (AdwCleaner[s*].txt) will open.

Please include the contents of that file in your reply.

I've done all of this and I think my HDD is just crappy, because everything I load is extremely slow. But there was one thing: the first boot after the first malware cleaning was surprisingly quick but that was an exception. Every other boot was slow again. If my computer is clean (none of the antimalware programms is prompting a problem) and the syndroms are still there it could point at something else. Don't you think?

PS. I had to change my keyboard and sound card (the last one was in PCI-Bus and the new one is in PCI-Express if that's relevant).

I thought so. But there are svereral problems, like high memory usage on windows start (especially svchost), errors with windows updates or errors in system logs:

*The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
DhaHelper
*The AODDriver4.2 service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.  (I didn't delete that file)

I think one of them is connected with my performance issue.
