There is a new malware threat that writes itself into the firmware of usb devices and hijacks computers. It is very difficult to remove apparently. I'm providing a few links with more details for anyone who is interested in reading about it.

This is more of a theoretical possibility than a threat that's actively happening. There haven't been any proven cases as of yet and although it's always best to be wary, at the moment it's a vapourware virus.
