Malwarebytes Anti-Malware PRO, updated to 2.0.2.1012, not working with Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center

Recommended Posts

I recently had severe update issues with Windows 8.1 Pro with Meida Center.  All isues were finally mitigated via a MS Customer Support, requiring that they do a complete re-install of Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center.

Immediately after this re-install, my Malwarebytes Anti-Malware was running.  I saw the icon in my tray, and ran several scheduled scans, successfully for several days.

Now, all of a sudden, the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware icon is missing from my tray, and when I click on the desktop icon, nothing happens; i.e., mbam.exe simply is not executing!

Here is a bit more background, I had installed the current updates for MBAM which successfully updated my software to the current version 2.0.2.1012; this was all done prior to the required Win 8.1 re-install.

In perusing the Forums here, as well as the MS Forums, it appears that there are some severe bugs/issues with the redesign of MBAM and Windows 8.1.

I am asking for help from folks who are more technically competent in this area, to hopefully provide an easy-to-follow set of troubleshooting steps that may help get my MBAM software up and running as before the various updates.

I thank everyone in advance for any insight and help you may provide, as this will help the mulitude of others as well.

@AdvancedSetup

Thank-your for your prompt, and easy-to-follow response!

I was able to easily follow the steps to completely remove MBAM, reinstall MBAM and activate my Paid PRO/PREMIUM version.

I am also very happy to report back to you that my MBAM, once again, has it's active icon in my task tray.

Furthermore, was also then able to update and run a full scan.  This process took about 15 mins total, which is significantly faster than in the past.

Once again, I thank you, and the Support community here at MBAM Forums, for helping to solve a frustrating issue (which I admit was exacerbated by my issues with Win 8.1).
