Missing Desktop Icons - Certain of Infection

Recommended Posts

A friend of mine was using my computer while I was away on vacation. He tried downloading numerous programs to "help" him advance in a game, but I'm certain he has infected my computer.

I have ran Malwarebytes and quarantined/removed all infected programs/regestry entries, but I still have missing desktop icons and many of my applications won't even start.

I believe I have a similar issue as this guy:

https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?/topic/83625-infected-by-windows-restore-virus-desktop-icons-missing/

I have followed the steps SpySentinel has provided, but my computer is still acting funny (missing desktop icons and issues loading programs).

I have also ran RogueKiller, Malwarebytes, and OTL, along with the "unhide.exe" program. I will attach the logs of these reports.

Please help!

Hello D2Gambit and :welcome:

The logs indicate the computer is probably infected and malware removal actions are not permitted in this sub-forum.

I recommend following the advice from the topic: Available Assistance for Possibly Infected Computers and have one of the Malware Removal Experts assist you with your issue.

If, as recommended, you do open a topic in Malware Removal Help, please make reference to this thread.

If you would like to get off to a very fast start, the Malware Removal Experts would appreciate it if you would also Copy and Paste both the FRST.txt and the Addition.txt output diagnostic reports from only Log Set 1 into your new topic.

Thank you. :)
