malwarebytes PUP removal, now computer doesn't work correctly

Recommended Posts

My husband installed malwarebytes on his work computer and it found a couple of trojans and over 300 PUPs. He had the software remove them and now the computer doesn't work right. He said he tried a system restore but it was not successful.

Any suggestions as to what we can do to correct the problem?

Thanks in advance.

Hello and :welcome: :

It's unlikely that the PUP removal caused the problem you describe -- there is more information about PUPs here.

It's more likely that one of the malware infections you mention (e.g. a rootkit) may have damaged the system.

We can't work on malware diagnostics and removal in this sub-section of the forum.

So, for expert assistance, I suggest that you please follow the advice in this pinned topic: Available Assistance For Possibly Infected Computers.
A malware analyst will assist you with cleaning the computer and repairing the malware damage.

If the system is so crippled that you are unable even to run the preliminary scans requested in the sticky topic above, then please just start a new, separate forum topic in the malware removal section anyway, explaining the situation.

The experts will have other tools to use.

Thanks,
