Recommended Posts

hi i recently updated my malwarebites yesterday then i got on this morning and shortly after starting up i got the message anti-rootkit driver not working so i followed its instructions and tried to update/install it and it said it could not install. i never had this problem before. i read through some of the posts and rebooting the computer didnt help any and i found a link for farbar recovery tool and followed the instructions for it. my report is attached i hope it helps.

im running on a windows 7 64 bit asus republic of gamers computer with geforce grafics card.

i found this gmer scanner on here that was suggested for someone with simular problems as me and the scanned file attached again.

if i remember correctly i remember getting rootkits as scan results that i deleted. im not sure if that is what caused the problem or te update. i read something about false pasative detections so maybe that was the case and those really wernt malware. :/ do i need to uninstall and re install malwarebites to fix it ? its the only thing that comes to my mind  that might help

im not sure what was going on but somehow it magically fixed its self so it works again. i restored my computer back before the day it all started and it never did anything. few days later i stopped getting the message and the anti-rootkit works again. so i scanned my system and sure enough it worked. so what on earth fixed it because i have no idea. but i hope it doesn't happen ever again because i really need anti-malware working since i tend to get malware fairly often. (a lot more often then detecting a single virus with avira security suite) my anti-virus works very good since it saved my computer a few times. malware tend to cause me most of the problems i come across so making sure it is up to date and working properly is a must.

anyways im glad its working again but if it stops again i will try here again

  • 2 months later...

I've been having this problem quite a bit for the past couple of months. Each time the programme tries to update itself, it gets hung up on the anti-rootkit. It gives me the options to either 1) continue downloading the rest of the update (except for the rootkit, which it says can't be updated) and then restart, or 2) halt all updating.
