Constantly needing to update?

Recommended Posts

Hello, so this is the issue... Im just overall making sure my computer is safe. Malware bytes CONTANTLY needs to update every time I open it. For example, where it says update data Bass, i'll need to click 'update now' and it'll update. I'm also running MB as an administrator too so I dont know... My computer performed a recovery last month after I came in contact with a virus and it did the same. Is this anything I need to worry about?

Helllo and welcome.

When was the program installed / is this a new install?

Have you set any Update task in the Scheduler section in Settings?

We will need to see some reports before going forward.

This tool will collect some information on the installation of Malwarebytes and create a report I need to review:

NOTE: You may need to temporarily turn off your antivirus if it interferes with this tool.

Download mbam-check.exe and save it to your desktop    from  http://downloads.malwarebytes.org/file/mbam_check
On Vista/Windows 7, 8, Right-click on mbam-check-2.1.1.1001.exe & select Run as Administrator & allow to Run when prompted by User Account Control.
On XP,Double-click on **mbam-check-2.1.1.1001.exe** to run it.

Do have patience while the tool runs.  It may take a while, and will flash a command prompt window.  And then it will start your text editor ( default is typically NOTEPAD).

It should then open a log file CheckResults.txt.  Just do a File >> Exit in NOTEPAD.
You should attach the CheckResults.txt file located on _your desktop_ so that I can review.

Our Anti-Malware program is that --- anti-malware.  It is not a antivirus.

Our is a supplement.  It catches what antivirus applications miss.  We catch things like trojans, rootkits, and malicious malwares.

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is not meant to be a replacement for antivirus software. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is a complementary but essential program which detects and removes zero-day malware and "Malware in the Wild".

This includes malicious programs and files, such as virus droppers, worms, trojans, rootkits, dialers, spyware, and rogue applications that many antivirus programs do not detect or cannot fully remove. That being said, there are many infections that Malwarebytes Anti-Malware does not detect or remove which any antivirus software will, such as file infectors.

Well I had installed Malware bytes a month ago roughly and when i had done a recovery on my laptop, and even before this recovery, malware bytes kept needing to update. Is this apart of how MB works in some way? I dont exactly want to go and be downloading any things im not sure about, I would like a quick little answer if this is possible. It doesn't need to update every time I go on so for example, if I went on MB today and went on it later on during today, it would say it wouldn't need to update and that it is up to date.
