Pmmupdate.exe is taking up huge amounts of memory

Recommended Posts

Hi.

For a long while, I have been experiencing major slowdown on my laptop. I thought this was hardware related at first, but more recently I found that whenever my laptop would freeze up, a process called PmmUpdate.exe would be pushing my RAM usage to 80+ percent. So far, I've been killing the process whenever it pops up and my idle memory use drops back down to around 20 percent. Looking for similar cases of this online, I've discovered that I may have a deeply embedded virus. (I've run Combofix and mbam in safe mode in the past and didn't get any results then, which is partly why I didn't originally think this was a malware related issue.)

I'd greatly appreciate assistance with this problem. Thanks!

That entry if for your EgisTec MyWinLockerSuite software that is used by them to update your software from them.

If that is your only concern then there is nothing to be concerned about. We can scan for other potential issues but the only current obvious issues is some old Java that should be removed.

If you'd like to scan further for possible infections please let me know .
