Multiple Instances of Explorer.exe

Recommended Posts

For the last few weeks my Computer has been crashing on me(Blue Screen of Death) at times, 2-3 times within a matter of a few hours. I have also been experiencing freezes, and my PC moving very slowly. I have not been able to get any of the information from the Blue Screen, as it goes away too quickly for me to be able to read OR take a picture of. Is there a way to view this information without waiting for my PC to crash again?

I have installed Malwarebytes Anti Malware and ran several scans - Yet it has found nothing in my system. And still my problem persists.

Per the instructions in the "I'm Infected, What do I do?" Topic, I downloaded the Farbar Recovery Scan tool and saved it to my Desktop. However, when I attempted to open the program, nothing happened. Quite literally nothing. I am unsure at this point whether I have done something incorrectly, or if the program just isn't working. (I downloaded the 64bit version of the program as I'm running 64bit windows.)

My OS is Windows 7 Ultimate, and when I check the processes list in my task manager I'm frequently finding multiple instances of explorer.exe that are consuming an extraordinary amount of memory(which I'm assuming isn't normal).

In lieu of not having any logs from Farbar to post for you,I have attached a screenshot of my Task manager Process tab(which I am aware is not the same thing, but at the very least you'll be able to see what I'm seeing). I'm simply unsure of what steps to take from here. And I do apologize if I've not given you enough information to help you help me. I am, regrettably, technologically impaired. So i appreciate and thank you in advance for being patient with me.

Very sorry for the delay. The site has been very busy and there has been more demand for support than we were able handle for a while there.
I'm just now getting back to see if you still need help or not. If you do please reply back and let me know and I'll go ahead and assist you.

Thank you
