My MalewareBytes Premium installation's scan has found these PUP maleware/adware programs:

PUP.Optional.DefaultTab.A
PUP.Optional.Updater.A (in three different locations)

Does MalewareBytes Premium have the ability remove these? I do not see the option to do that anywhere. I found this discussion about it:

https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?/topic/144616-trouble-removing-pup-objects/

where there are these instructions:

Open up Malwarebytes > Settings Tab > Scanner Settings > Under action for PUP > Select: Show in Results List and Check for removal.

But my Malewarebytes installation does not have this path.  There is no "Scanner Settings" item in Malwarebytes > Settings Tab. I did not find a results list with check boxes for removal in any of the items there. I did find a results list in Malwarebytes > History, but there were no removal check boxes in that list.

Hello and :welcome:

Yes Malwarebytes can scan and remove those PUP.

First off, lets find out what version of Malwarebytes you are running?

If you are running the latest version of 2.x then you should be able to open Malwarebytes, click on the Settings Tab Then Detection and Protection make sure the setting match the picture below...

The version number is 2.0.2.1012

The checkboxes at "Settings => Detection and Protection" were set as in your attached image file.

But a scan with these settings in effect still shows "No Action By User" in the Scan Log's "Action" column. And these same PUPs continue to show in repeated scans.

"No Action By User" implies there is an action for me to take to get rid of these. Is there?

In the Scan History log in shows that PUP is set to Warn. Is this why these PUPs were not automatically deleted? How is a PUP that is warned about deleted?

Is this in previous scan logs? If you run a manual threat scan now do those items get detected? If it does, can you get me a screen shot of the items detected before you try to quarantine them?
