Malwarebytes gets attacked and shuts down when I run it.

Recommended Posts

2nd time I have had this problem.  The symptoms are as follows

Loads other fake virus programs.  I dont accept.  I deleted all of them.

I do not have a restore point to work from.

I have used the malwarebyte clean program to delete and reinstall but still it hijacks the program when I start Malwarebytes.

Need this PC bad.  Please help.  Is there a solution to apply if this happens again.

Thanks

Steve

Hi & :welcome:

My name is Jürgen and I will be assisting you with your Malware related problems.

Before we move on, please read the following points carefully. :excl:

  • My first language is not english. So please do not use slang or idioms. It could be hard for me to read. Thanks for your understanding.
  • Please read my instructions completely. If there is anything that you do not understand kindly ask before proceeding.
  • Perform everything in the correct order. Sometimes one step requires the previous one.
  • If you have any problems while you are follow my instructions, Stop there and tell me the exact nature of your problem.
  • Do not run any other scans without instruction or Add/ Remove Software unless I tell you to do so. This would change the output of our tools and could be confusing for me.
  • Post all Logfiles as a reply rather than as an attachment unless I specifically ask you. If you can not post all logfiles in one reply, feel free to use more posts.
  • If I don't hear from you within 3 days from this initial or any subsequent post, then this thread will be closed.
  • Stay with me. I will give you some advice about prevention after the cleanup process. Absence of symptoms does not always mean the computer is clean.
Step 1

Please uninstall some programs:

  • Windows 7w7.png: Click on the Start Menu button, open Control Panel and click Uninstall a program.
  • Search and select the following programs one by one and click on Uninstall:

    Java 6 Update 24

    Java 7 Update 51

    VAFPlayer

  • Reboot your computer.
Next step, please try a combofix-scan...

Step 2

Please download combofix.pngCombofix (by sUBs) and save it to your Desktop.

  • Disable the realtime-protection of your antivirus and anti-malware programs because they might interfere with the scan.
  • Start Combofix.exe and follow its instructions.
  • Do not use the computer while the scan is running. This may cause the program to stall.
  • When finished, a log file will be displayed (that can also be found at C:\Combofix.txt).

Please copy and paste the contents of this file into your next post.

Note: If you receive an error "Illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion." after the scan, just restart the computer.
