Why does the scan after this last update take so long?

Recommended Posts

I started the scan on my husband laptop this morning and it is STILL running!!! The time lapsed is currently at 11:50:10.  I had started it last night and then paused it at the time it was showing 169 Deleted Objects. I tried to cancel and that also did not work.  I clicked on the X closed it, I deleted some programs using Add/Remove Programs, Deleted the Temporary Files through the Internet Options.  I emptied the Trash. I did restarts between all of these.  After all of that I started a new scan. That is the one that is still running now. It is saying 12 Deleted Objects.

I would appreciate any suggestions/comments/ideas.

My husband just noticed that the Objects Scanned has not changed since I got home around seven pm EST. That is when I posted my original comment above on another thread regarding the slowness of the scan.

It is still at 12 Deleted Objects and the Time Elapsed is 12:19:00 the Objects Scanned is at 258788.  Any help is appreciated.

Hello and Welcome to Malwarebytes

Scan times vary from computer to computer depending on options selected and number of files, speed of computer, hard drive corruption, infections on a computer, Scan for Rootkits option enabled, just to name a few.

If you have scan for rootkits enabled, try disabling that function see if scan times improve.

What type of scan are you running, Threat, Custom or Hyper?

We may be able to help a little better if you provide some logs we can look at...
