Window 7 BSOD after Malwarebytes update

Recommended Posts

Hello and :welcome::

BSOD are most often caused by hardware problems, driver issues, or even a severe infection (rootkit)

We are disappointed to hear of your BSOD after the recent MBAM update (I presume you are referring to the update to program version 2.0.2.1012).

But we would need a bit more information in order to better assist you.

For example:

>>At what point after the upgrade did you get the BSOD?

>>Did you make any other hardware or software or driver changes around the same time?

>>Is your hard drive encrypted with Truecrypt, or with another, third-party encryption method (such as BitLocker, SecureDoc or others)?

  1. Please read the following and post back attached to your next reply the 3 requested logs - Diagnostic Logs
  2. If the minidump file with the corresponding date and timestamp for the BSOD is still in this folder (C:\Windows\Minidump\), please attach it in the next reply to this thread.

Thank You,

Dear daledoc1

Thank you for your prompt reply and please see below the responses to your questions:

>>At what point after the upgrade did you get the BSOD?

The day the update was automatically downloaded a full scan was completed and a large number of malware was detected which was quarantined. The crashing started to occur within a day of this scan.

>>Did you make any other hardware or software or driver changes around the same time?

No.

>>Is your hard drive encrypted with Truecrypt, or with another, third-party encryption method (such as BitLocker, SecureDoc or others)?

No.

Also, please find attached some of the requested files. The minidump files indicate that I need some kind of permission but I have no idea what that means?

Thanks again for your assistance.

Hi:

Thanks for the logs and the update re: history of recent infection.

Preliminary review of your logs reveals possible evidence of a rootkit (ZeroAccess).

This will require work that cannot be performed in this particular area of the forum.

I suggest the following:

  1. Please read this pinned topic: Available Assistance for Possibly Infected Computers
  2. Then please start a new, separate topic in the malware removal section >>HERE<<, attaching the same logs you posted here. A malware expert will provide free, one-on-one help with cleaning the computer and repairing the damage. Please be patient -- the forum is quite busy and it may be 48 hours before someone can take your topic.

P.S. Please use the default forum fonts, in order to make your posts easier to read and follow. :)

Thanks,
