SecureRabbit Posted July 6, 2014 ID:849762 Share Posted July 6, 2014 So, I got Malwarebytes free version and went to run it on my computer. However when I ran the software AVG chimed in and said that Malwarebytes was infected. Any suggestions as of what to do?
1PW Posted July 6, 2014 ID:849770 Share Posted July 6, 2014 Hello SecureRabbit and If Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.0.2.1012 was downloaded/installed from the official download source, and has not been subsequently infected, then the following exclusions may be entered in AVG to ignore those detections:For Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.x, please exclude the following files from your Anti-Virus software (we are unsure what version of you are using):Note: If using a software firewall besides the built in Windows Firewall you will need to exclude them from it as wellFor 32-bit (x86) versions of Windows XP, and above:C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbam.exeC:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamdor.exeC:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbampt.exeC:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exeC:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamscheduler.exeFor 64-bit versions of Windows Vista and above:C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbam.exeC:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamdor.exeC:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbampt.exeC:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exeC:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamscheduler.exeNote: If using a software firewall besides the built in Windows Firewall you will need to exclude mbam.exe and mbamservice.exe from it as wellNote: Once that is done, please make sure that if either of those programs has any sort of web filter, that you add the following as a trusted site:data-cdn.mbamupdates.comIf however the MBAM download source was not official and/or subsequent infection is suspected, then a MBAM Clean Removal Process is strongly recommended:Please try the following and let us know if this corrects your issue: MBAM Clean Removal Process 2.x.If that does not correct the issue, then please read the following and attach the 3 requested logs in a reply to this thread: Diagnostic Logs. The 3 files, from Step 2, to be attached from your desktop are: 1) CheckResults.txt 2) FRST.txt 3) Addition.txt. Please do not Copy and Paste them into a reply.NOTE: There is an FAQ section with valuable information located in Common Questions, Issues, and their Solutions. Please let us know the status of your issue in a reply to this thread.Thank You. 1PW Posted July 6, 2014 ID:849807 Share Posted July 6, 2014 Hello SecureRabbit: Malwarebytes' management might be very interested in knowing, in detail, exactly which AVG product and version ...said that Malwarebytes was infected. Would you please then attach the relevant AVG logs that adequately document which Malwarebytes Anti-Malware files/folders/processes are/were infected, in a reply to this thread? There is always the possibility of an infrequent false positive (FP) in need of resolution. Thank you.
