malwarebytes will not open, possible infection

Recommended Posts

I'm having a lot of trouble opening Malwarebytes Premium.  The trouble started a couple weeks ago when Malwarebytes would not open.  I uninstalled Malwarebytes using the Clean Removal tool, then reinstalled it and ran a scan.  The scan didn't turn up anything.  I thought the problem was fixed, until a few days later when I tried to run a scan and again Malwarebytes wouldn't open.  Again, I uninstalled Malwarebytes using the Clean Removal tool, and this time installed the new 2.02 Public Beta version.  I ran a scan, and again nothing turned up.  I thought the issue was finally fixed, until yesterday when again I tried opening Malwarebytes to run a scan, and it would not open.  Although my computer is practically brand new, my hunch is that somehow it's gotten infected with malware.  I've attached to this message the diagnostic logs from the Farbar Recovery Scan tool, but the log from the mbam-check.exe never opened (a blank black window came up for about thirty seconds, then disappeared).  Please, please help!FRST.txtAddition.txt

Hello lscolem and :welcome:

Your theory is probably quite sound and since the output of the mbam-check.exe diagnostic tool (CheckResults.txt) is an invaluable tool when coupled with FRST, let's have you pay a visit to the Malware Removal Experts:

I recommend following the advice from the topic: Available Assistance for Possibly Infected Computers and have one of the Malware Removal Experts assist you with your issue.

If, as recommended, you do open a topic in Malware Removal Help, please make reference to this thread.

Thank you. :)
