extending malwarebytes coverage to additional computers

Recommended Posts

The Malwarebytes website seems to suggest that a single license covers three PCs. I have Malwarebytes installed on one PC. How do I go about extending this coverage to two additional PCs in my home network?

Also, where do I find the expiration date for this coverage?

Hi:

Just to expand a bit upon @fivealive's excellent advice.... :)
The precise answer to your question depends on whether you have a LIFETIME license or a SUBSCRIPTION license:

  • If you purchased a consumer license for MBAM Pro version 1.x BEFORE March 2014, then it will be a lifetime, 1-PC license.  It can be transferred to a different computer, but not to a different user.  It can be activated on ONLY1 PC at a time. There is no expiration date. There is no need to renew or pay again. And, it will have been automatically migrated to an equivalent, lifetime, 1-PC license for MBAM version 2.  Since it is a 1-PC license, the coverage cannot be "extended". If you want to install MBAM 2 Premium on additional computers, you will need to purchase additional licenses.
  • If you purchased a consumer license for MBAM Premium version 2.x AFTER March 2014 as a routine purchase, then it PROBABLY is a subscription, renewable, 3-PC license that will expire 1 year from the date of activation on the 1st PC. It can be activated on up to 3 PCs at a time, using the same license ID & key on the 3 machines, as @fivealive explained. It will need to be renewed a year after it was activated on the 1st PC (the "Activation Date" is displayed from the main dashboard > "My Account").
    • I have to qualify that because there have been a few special, promotional offers since March 2014 that have sold a 1-PC, lifetime license for version 2.  Such a license can be activated on only 1 PC at a time, but has no expiration date or need to renew.

There is additional information about licensing at the following links:

If you still need help with this, please post back and let us know. We will point you in the right direction to the specific info that applies to your situation.

Sorry this seems a bit complicated -- with the change to the subscription licensing model, it has created a degree of complexity that makes a "one size fits all" answer impractical.

Cheers,

I have tracked down my original purchase. It was for 1 PC, lifetime. I have ordered two more such licenses on ebay so that I can install the software on the two additional PCs, using the CD from the original purchase.  Thanks for your help.

Hi:

Thanks for the followup.

BTW, you would not want to install from the CD -- it will contain an outdated version of the software.

All you need to install and activate the Premium version is a fresh download of the MBAM installer from this link >>HERE<<  AND the license ID and key that you purchased.

Here is more information: Download and Installation  and Activation

I would also try to keep a paper trail documenting your ebay license purchases -- it's not always the most trustworthy place to buy fully legal software licenses.  As MBAM licensing has moved to the 3-PC/subscription model, there have been scammers trying to take advantage of customers looking for lifetime licenses.

Please feel free to post back if you need additional help.

Best regards,
