Hello and welcome aboard.

You "chopped" the report such that not all of it is here.  Going forward, just only please, attach any diagnostic report.

The little description you gave points to a hiccup that can be cured.

First, be sure that you are logged in to Windows with a Administrator-level rights account.   That is one big key.

Be sure to SAVE to your system first any download.  No running of any download right from the browser program !.

If you have both realtime protection as well as self-protection selected in MBAM, you need to first turn off the self-protection using the programs Settings >>Advanced Settings screen.

Our Anti-Malware -does- indeed run on Windows 8.1   ( that is not a factor here ) !

If you are unable to update Malwarebytes Anti-Malware's database, please follow the steps below :

1: Download our netconf replacement tool from the link below

2: Unzip the zip file to Extract the "Net Conf Fix" folder on your desktop.

3: Once extracted, open the **Net Conf Fix** folder.

4: Double click on the net-replacement.bat file. If you are using Windows Vista or higher, please **right-click** the **net-replacement.bat** file and click Run as Administrator from the menu.

5: After the tool has run, launch Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and click Update Now

Please let me know if you are able to update the database after running this tool.

If you are unsure how to extract the contents of the .zip folder, please see this tutorial from Microsoft:

This was a great help! Thank you. I wasn't able to get past the update after downloading. This worked for me.

Oh, I heard about Malwarebytes through BleepingComputer while trying to fix some popups that were showing up every time I started my computer.

Thank you again!  :)
