Activate Selfprotection / Acitvate Selfprotection earlier

Recommended Posts

Hi, Shamu1967:

In addition to 1PW's excellent advice, here's a bit more info about the Self-Protection (SP) module, from the FAQ:

The program Self Protection will prevent renaming, moving, or deleting any files related to the program including shortcuts on the Desktop. If you wish to move or rename a shortcut or uninstall the program or run the MBAM Clean Removal Process then you need to first disable the Self Protection module. From Settings -> Advanced Settings -> uncheck the "Enable self-protection module" and close the program. It can also prevent or hinder installation of other Malwarebytes products so make sure to disable the Protection Module before installing other Malwarebytes programs.

and from the MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x pinned topic, should you ever need to uninstall/reinstall the program:

Make sure you disable the program Self Protection if you've enabled it.

The bottom line is that the SP module is not necessarily needed by all users under routine conditions (that's why it's disabled by default).

But if you do choose to enable it, please note that it will need to be temporarily disabled in order to perform certain tasks.

Cheers.
