Malwarebytes 2.0.2.1012 crashes on execution

Recommended Posts

I just updated to 2.0.2.1012 on a 32-bit Windows 7 machine.  I have been using Malwarebytes very happily for years.  As of updating to this new version, it crashes when I attempt to run the update database.  The crash is instantaneous when I try and execute any function. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and the result is the same.

I had an older version (1.7.x) saved and installed that (the database was 450 days old) and that ran just fine.

Your assistance would be much appreciated.

As suggested in my initial post, please see the following thread.  I have attached the originally requested dumps.

Regarding this issue.  The product is, to all intents and purposes, useless if it crashes as soon as it is opened.  Assistance with this would be much appreciated.  As I mentioned, I can install MBAM 1.75 and it runs just fine.  I can't update the database though because the updater just downloads the 2.0.2.1012 version and installs it.

Hello and welcome to Malwarebytes forum,

You recently installed version 2.0.2 and you see a database date of 2014.03.04.09. Right ?

You also had the program abnormally terminate with this

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware has stopped working

or

Runtime Library runtime error .... error message This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.

If you are unable to update Malwarebytes Anti-Malware's database, please follow the steps below :

1: Download our netconf replacement tool from the link below

https://malwarebytes.box.com/shared/static/4pro228sfm3mzl3f7eyl.zip

2: Extract the Net Conf Fix folder on your desktop. If you are unsure how to extract the contents of the .zip folder, please see this tutorial from Microsoft:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/compress-uncompress-files-zip-files

3: Once extracted, open the Net Conf Fix folder.

4: Double click on the net-replace.bat file. If you are using Windows Vista or higher, please right-click the net-replace.bat file and click Run as Administrator from the menu.

5: After the tool has run, please do a Logoff >> Shutdown >> Restart for a new Windows session.

launch Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and click Update Now

Please let me know if you are able to update the database after this.

I understand that the program is "crashing" and I do know why yours is doing that.

If you had downloaded the zip file before this point ( from my reply earlier) then please delete the zip file now.

DO Save the zip file I am attaching here to your system.  Please do that to the DESKTOP.

Extract the all the content of my zipfile to your desktop. If you are unsure how to extract the contents of the .zip folder, please see this tutorial from Microsoft:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/compress-uncompress-files-zip-files

2: Once extracted, open the Net Conf Fix folder.

3: Double click on the net-replacement.bat file. If you are using Windows Vista or higher, please right-click the net-replace.bat file and click Run as Administrator from the menu.

4: After the tool has run, please do a Logoff >> Shutdown >> Restart for a new Windows session.

launch Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and click Update Now

Please let me know if you are able to update the database after this.

I am glad to know that your Anti-Malware is all good to go.  You should cleanup after the tools I had you use.

Please delete these items ( if still present )

FRST.exe

FRST.txt

Addition.txt

the \FRST folder

The zip files I had you get

the "Net conf fix" folder
