Inbound "attacks" from wininit.exe?

Recommended Posts

Hello.

I got a pop-up yesterday saying "Malicious Website Blocked" and the process was wininit.exe (image)

post-167801-0-90744300-1403873457_thumb.

I didn't think much of it, but today it appeared again, this time 4 or 5 times in a row. Should I be worried? I've done a full scan of my PC with Malwarebytes and Windows Defender and nothing came up.

Hello Quazar and :welcome:

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium is doing its job well by blocking this intrusion attempt by a suspected malicious IP address and thereby protecting your computer.

These attempts will probably stop, in time, and may be loosely compared to incoming spam in ones email.

HTH :)

The logs indicate that something is causing programs to crash which may simply be software conflicts or it could be some type of infection. Inbound IP blocks are just that - a remote system attempting to contact your computer and we blocked it. Your firewall should also be setup to manage most of that type of blocking.

I would suggest following the advice from the topic here Available Assistance for Possibly Infected Computers and having one of the Experts assist you with looking into your issue.

Thanks
