Rename mbam-setup to something else and still can't run it

Recommended Posts

First - please review what I've already tried and please don't ask me to do it again, here's what I've already done:

Downloaded the most recent version of Malwarebytes from here:

http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti...4-10804572.html

It wouldn't install - so I renamed it to "laurie" and it installed (but took FOREVER on the last step of finishing up)

After it installed it would not open - when I double click on it to run it - it does nothing - not one single thing

I removed it - using control panel add, remove programs

I ran the clean utility - then rebooted

Installed Malewarebytes again

Rebooted

Try to run - it does nothing - not one single thing.

I can install High Jack This - but I can't run it - it does the exact same thing as malewarebytes does.

Can anyone help me?

Laurie

Hi,

First please take a look and see if any of these posts help you to get MBAM running or not.

Potential Malware infection issues to review to get MBAM running

If none of above apply in your case, then try if Malwarebytes works when you rename mbam.exe. This is the file located in the Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware folder. So rename mbam.exe to blah.exe (or so).

Also try to run Mbam from Windows Safe mode.
