mbam 2 freezes pc on scan, logs inside

Recommended Posts

Hello denizb and :welcome:

Please open the MBAM 2.x User Interface (UI) Dashboard and goto:

Settings > Detection and Protection > Detection Options.

Untick "Scan for rootkits" and also untick "Scan within archives".

Then, perform a "Threat Scan" and please let us know, in a reply to this thread, if your issue has been resolved.

Thank you.

Hello denizb:

First, (but only if the program is running) let's shutdown the realtime Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. Go to the desktop Taskbar. See the blue-color MBAM icon in the notification area.

Do a Right-click on it with your mouse, and select EXIT.

I have attached a zip file which you need to Save to your system.

Once saved, unzip it to extract all contents. which will be 2 files.

Next, double-click on **net_replacement.bat** file.

It should run fairly quickly in a command-prompt window.

I would suggest then a Logoff >> Shutdown >> Restart so that your pc is then in a new Windows session.

Once that is done, restart the Anti-Malware and please let me know if it works normally.

Thank you.

After this mbam won't start anymore. "Program has stopped working."

I'd like to add though, I already did the complete removal before making the topic.

Yet I am about to escalate your issues to a Malwarebytes staffer and that is almost the first thing that will be requested is a clean re-install followed by a fresh set of diagnostic logs. So please bare with us.

Please let us know, in a reply to this thread, if the above steps have helped you with your issue and thank you for your understanding.

Thank You. :)

Hello denizb:

1. Did any of the BSOD failures occur while MBAM 2.x was scanning a TrueCrypt container of any description?

2. If any dump files were created as a result of the BSOD, they may still be located in C:\WINDOWS\Minidump. If so, please attach them in a reply to this thread.

Thank you.
