I have my wife's computer set to run an update daily at 10:00am. Each morning she boots up and by noon has a message in the lower right corner of her screen that the "Database is out of Date", "Update Now". Catch is that when she clicks on "Update Now" it grays out and then reappears but nothing happens. I open Malwarebytes to the Dashboard and the update option is grayed out. If I reboot, and log in with the same username and password as before, I can go into the Dashboard and run an update.

Malwarebytes was installed as an Administrator and I run the updates with the Administrator username. I know there is an FAQ that addresses this issue but the FAQ indicates MB was installed as a Standard user, not an Administrator but this is not the case.

He system is running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit with 32 GB of RAM.

I have the same Malwarebytes settings on my computer and it updates as scheduled with no glitches. I am running Windows 8.1 with update 4 and 16 GB of RAM.

Any ideas, other than uninstall and reinstall as Administrator, would be appreciated. Tech Support is indicating 3-4 days for a standard response to emailed problems and if they are typical of most support centers that means 5-7 days if I am lucky.

Hello vinf620 and :welcome:

Since this amounts to a request for "Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Help", please start a NEW, SEPARATE topic using the cjfj.png button as we are not permitted, by forum policy, to troubleshoot in this sub-forum.

Merely copy and paste the upper portion of your post, with your wife's experiences, into the new topic and a helper/staffer will assist you there.

Thank you for your understanding. :)

I'm having the exact same issue. I have uninstalled/reinstalled and it is still doing it. This is an administrator account too.

Thanks

Hello Vince2014A and :welcome:

We are disappointed to read your system is having issues. Each computer is unique. Problems that seem "the same" most often are not.

The same is true for solutions. They most often need to be individualized.

It is less confusing for everyone if we adhere to the "one user per topic" forum policy.

Please start a NEW, SEPARATE topic using this cjfj.png button.

Staffers, experts and helpers will be able to more easily provide both you, and the OP, with individualized assistance to get you both up and running.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. :)

Ditto everyone else, that is, I had the same problem, but I fixed it!  Here's how...

The problem is that there was a pending threat detected that resulted in a notification in the Scan window (opened by clicking the Scan button in the dashboard) that required a response.  (See the first screen capture attached.)  Since the detected file is OK, I changed the Action from "Ignore Once" to "Add Exclusion" and clicked the "Apply Actions" button.

Once the threat was handled (see the second screen capture attached), I returned to the main screen by clicking the "Dashboard" button at the top of the window and the "Update Now" link next to the database version number was no longer grayed out.  I was able to click that and update my database (see the third screen capture attached).

Whew! :)

  • 2 months later...

Mary Ann, I am glad that you managed to cure your case.

I am going to lock this thread, at this point.

For anyone else, that has the same recurring issue with the Database out of date issue, or the unable to Update, that you really consider getting our beta version 2.0.3  and install that.

This is a beta for now.   But we hopefully are looking forward to the eventual  G.A. release in the short term future.

See this link https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?/topic/158226-malwarebytes-anti-malware-203-beta-1/

Regards.
