I've been using MBAM forever it seems like...

Well yesterday it stopped working... I don't know if it was a coincidence that I downloaded (and was able to get rid of) a bad file.. anytime I try to run MBAM it automatically stopps working, and can't find a solution, can't run as admin, can't fix the software installation, anything like that.  I'm using MS Security essentials, which I've disabled, and tried to re-install MBAM with the same results.  Any thoughts?  I'm running Windows 7, no other spywire/antivirus programs are active.

Would it correct itself if I just paid for a year's subscription?  Although truthfully, if it was working before I don't want to pay for it just yet, I just need to figure out what the problem is.

Thanks for any help.

Hello Teala:

Since you have not left-clicked on Update Now >>, after re-installation, please do so now.

Then please re-run your scan(s) and let us know, in a reply to this thread, if your issue has been resolved.

Thank you.

Hi, I did try to download the update, sorry I didn't see the 'update' button at first...

Due to compatibility issues I've decided to uninstall MalwareBytes; I'm using MS security essentials and Windows Defender, and enable / disable one / the other when I'm running them... I found that no matter what I was doing, MalwareBytes was not able to run... I even disabled everything & re-installed Nod32 (which I haven't used for a few months), and I found a lot of problems, and was able to fix the problem... sorry for the inconvenience.. I might use MalwareBytes in the future as it's a great program.  Thanks for your assistance.

Hello Denny_M:

We are disappointed to read your system is still having issues. Each computer is unique. Problems that seem "the same" most often are not.
The same is true for solutions. They most often need to be individualized.

It is less confusing for everyone if we adhere to the "one user per topic" forum policy.

Please update your own topic's thread at

Thank you for your patience and understanding. :)

Please note that multiple users are reporting Malwarebytes crashes within the last 24 hours (or less). This suggests something w.r.t. Malwarebytes itself has changed rather than something else with their systems. I posted a small note in another thread a couple minutes ago noting my experience so far this morning.

If multiple users are having similar issues, what's the harm in keeping it altogether in one thread?

And, upon my research, mbytes said there was a compatibility issue with MS Security essentials...

Most people know that not all protection programs will work with each other......

If many people are suddenly having problems, you may want to look into your latest update and roll it back or something...

:-/ just a thought.. I DID like Malwarebytes when it was working with no problem.  I think it was just a coincidence for me that I downloaded a bad file at the same time I realized MBAM stopped working for me. Just a thought.

Hello Teala,

While some may seem similar, we often find that each is just a bit different from the other, thus the urging for each one to create their own help topic.

I strongly disagree on any assertion of a conflict with MS Security Essentials or with Windows Defender.   That is not correct.

And note when more than 1 person posts it becomes a nightmare & quite messy to weave thru all the different ones and figure out what the issue is for a given person.

Yours appears to be an abend of the program.   If you still have Version 2.0 installed, give this a try.

First, ( but only if the program is running) lets shutdown the realtime Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. Go to the desktop Taskbar. See the blue-color MBAM icon in the notification area.   ( if not there or you are not using realtime protection, skip this part)
Do a Right-click on it with your mouse, and select EXIT.

I have attached a zip file which you need to Save to your system.

Once saved, unzip it to extract all contents.   which will be 2 files.
Next, double-click on **net_replacement.bat** file.
It should run fairly quickly in a command-prompt window.

Once that is done, restart the Anti-Malware and let me know if it works normally.

I am having similar issues and created the logs after the clean removal process failed. Attached are the logs compressed in a zip. If you would like them separate that's fine just let me know.

Logs - FRST, Addition, CheckResults.zip

Hello and :welcome: , @cwburns32:

Sorry to hear you are having issues.
Each computer is unique.
Problems that sound "the same" most often are not.
The same is true for solutions.
They most often need to be individualized.

It is less confusing for everyone if we try to stick to "one user per topic".

This thread is already pretty cluttered, with the Topic Starter and at least 2 others.

You also didn't mention if you had tried this, but you might try the fix in >>this pinned topic<< to see if it resolves your issue.

So, please start a NEW, SEPARATE topic using the cjfj.png button.

When you do, please attach all 3 of your logs to that new post separately (FRST.txt, Addition.txt and CheckResults.txt), not as a zip folder/file.

The staff and experts will be able to more easily provide you with individual help to get you up and running.

Thanks for your patience and understanding,
