Does the new MB 2.0.2 automatically download/install definitions AND new upgrades to the program?

Or can I select MANUAL updates and not have them done automatically?

If I can choose between MANUAL and AUTOMATIC, how would that be done?

Hi:

Does this new MB 2.0.2 automatically download/install definitions AND new upgrades to the program?

Yes.

The developers have said that they will provide an option in version 2 to "manually" control PROGRAM updates separate from definitions updates at some point in the future, as was explained in your other thread recently here. :)

There is currently no way to disable automatic/silent PROGRAM update checks. The program will always check for program updates when it checks for database updates. An option to disable this program update check will be added to a future release.

I just installed MB 2012 on my laptop and don't see any place where I can disable automatic updates for new versions (as there was in previous version).

Am I not looking in the right place or is this disabling still not available for downloading/installing new versions? Is it still automatic?

When I opened MB on my laptop, it automatically updated the version to 2.0.2.1012.

Will 2.0.3.1025 be downloaded automatically by the version I now have (2.0.2.1012)?

I heard there are problems with the new version; so I would rather stay with this 2.0.2.1012 I have. Too many updates are confusing me to no end.

Hi:

Sorry, but there is no way to specifically disable automatic PROGRAM updates in version 2.0.2.1012.

That feature was restored in version 2.0.3.

So, if you want to be able to defer or postpone PROGRAM updates, you'll need to upgrade to version 2.0.3, and then disable the automatic program update feature (see screenshot).

Version 2.0.3 is being pushed out to users gradually, aka "throttled" release.

So, you will be offered 2.0.3 eventually.

You can either wait for that to happen, or you can do either of the following:

  • Download the 2.0.3 installer here and run it to upgrade on top of your existing 2.0.2 build.
  • OR
  • Perform a clean upgrade, following the steps here: MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x

In addition to providing the user the ability to postpone automatic PROGRAM updates, 2.0.3 fixes many bugs in version 2.0.2.

Other than that, there are not a lot of changes to the features of 2.0.3 (most of the changes are "under the hood", to fix problems).

So, it is a good idea to upgrade.

Thanks,
