Scan computers under OU

Recommended Posts

Malwarebytes Enterprise Edition v1.3.1.1962 on Windows Server 2008 R2 Ent SP1 on Hyper-V

We are deploying malwarebytes enterprise edition in our environment. I thought it would be easiest to scan the computers ou in AD. But when I choose scan computers under OU I do not see the computers OU listed. I can scan all of AD/OU's and capture the computers/servers, but I am trying to avoid also capturing servers.

Can anyone let me know why I am not seeing the computers OU thanks.

Lazz I have actually been working with DSolutions and Malware Bytes Support. They think it might be a Svr 2012 / SQL 2012 issue, but aren't sure. All the server logs are coming back normal. I have also seen threads about this same issue on Svr 2008R2 / 2008 SQL. I've been told there is a new release coming out by the end of the year that will support 2012. So I just might wait till that comes out unless you might have another solution?

In AD, check to make sure that COMPUTERS icon looks exactly like other OU's.  By default, AD has a CONTAINER named COMPUTERS, and that is for computers that are not yet associated with an OU.  We cannot import from a container, only from an OU.

It will not include containers.  When your computers become part of an OU, you can add them to Enterprise Edition/Management Console  by clicking SYNC NOW.  Otherwise, a container will not be added to Malwarebytes because it is not an OU.

Just OUs.  Having a computer in a container is like not having it in AD in the first place.  It would be in your best interests to move computers from the container into an appropriate OU.
