Odd looking services?

Recommended Posts

Sorry if these questions seem pointless/tedious to answer but I do really appreciate it.  After a fairly bad rootkit infection I've been trying to educate my self more and more about these sort of things! So far the mwb forums have been a great help.

Mostly interested in Rasman Remote Access Connection Manager, I've heard people say it's important to have running and others say it's a huge vulnerability. I have MWB premium, are these areas looked at with each scan? Also if this is the wrong place to be asking these kind of questions/having these things looked at feel free to let me know!

I also not just noticed that there's a rule about not bumping your own thread. The additional posts were by no means an attempt to bump my thread. I know it's late and no one is around so I figured I'd get the few questions I had posted. Sorry!

hmmm ...

according to a couple sources ... "rasman.exe" is not a good thing to have running and can indeed lead to further infections .

you may not be completely recovered from your "recent infection" or you have picked up some more stuff since then .

i suggest that you head over to the malware removal section and start a new thread/topic .

also , the last that i knew , skype uses your comp/bandwidth without your knowledge anytime your comp is running .

you may want to get rid of skype .

Could anyone give me a second opinion on this?. I've heard it's supposed to be in your services set to "Manual" I've heard it should be set to "Stopped" Before i move forward with starting a thread in the removal section I'd love a second opinion.

About a month ago I had another issue, I went through every little bit and bob to check my system and they said it was clean of infection.. I also can't get rid of skype, I need it for work.

What is "odd" ?

To educate one self is to learn the OS and all the sub-systems within, what they do and what they are used for and why.

I don't see anything "odd" nor "even" for that matter.

If you are worried, and want a second opinion, the Malware Removal Help sub-forum is an available resource to you.
