Malwarebytes crashing

Recommended Posts

Hello, I know there hasn't been a response but my computer's malwarebytes has seem to somewhat fixed itself. My computer has been running slowly recently and has been freezing. I have run tons of programs to see if it was malware but all came back clean. Just a few minutes ago, it froze so badly I had to restart it. After doing so, the computer logged in and almost immediately malwarebytes came up with a alert that it found malware.packer.t . I have no idea if that was the cause of the problem, but it will not crash completely any longer. It still cannot update, and I feel like this might be the malware's doing. I know this isn't the correct sub-forum for this, but I just wanted to provide my findings. Also, I ran scans with ESET, ADWCleaner, JRT, FRST, and Bit-defender(I even used rescue mode). Nothing came up.

After writing this, I found it came from Version's app that came pre-installed with my phone. Not sure if a false positive, but it only crashed when launched. I disabled it in the start menu and after hitting apply, malwarebytes found it. Here is the log portion in HTML,

Hello hdtv35 and :welcome:

Regrettably we could not respond to your topic starter. Since you have uncovered malware, but not its source or vector, please consider the advice below:

I recommend following the advice from the topic: Available Assistance for Possibly Infected Computers and having one of the Malware Removal Experts assist you with looking into your issue.

If, as recommended, you do open a topic in Malware Removal Help, please make reference to this thread.

Thank you. :)

Hello, I'm not sure were to go with this, as it could be anything, and I'm not experienced in the malware arena, but as of right now, malwarebytes is using all of my cpu. I have a I7-2600 and its using 97%. It is only using 20mb of ram though. I've tried ending the task but it just will not close. Sorry if I should go to the malware removal forum, but its malwarebytes using the cpu. Thank you for your time.

Hello PreacJjohn and :welcome:

You may be pleased to know that no less than five releases have been made since build 1004, but we are disappointed to read your system is having issues. Each computer is unique. Problems that seem "the same" most often are not.
The same is true for solutions. They most often need to be individualized.

It is less confusing for everyone if we adhere to the "one user per topic" forum policy.
Please start a NEW, SEPARATE topic using the cjfj.png button.
Staffers, experts and helpers will be able to more easily provide both you, and the OP, with individualized assistance to get you both up and running.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

I too run an i7-2600 in one of my systems and as such, more resources and scan time, will be used when any MBAM2 scan has been asked to look within archives and/or check for rootkits. Then, when idle, your CPU utilization likely could be 1 to 3%.

My original advice stands; a professional Malware Removal Expert should be given an opportunity to help check your system for further possible malware removal.

HTH :)
