Cannot Update mbam. Runtime Error C++

Recommended Posts

Hi, I just recently am having problems with the mbam.exe program. Everytime I try to update the program, a C++ Microsoft Visual Runtime Library error pops up stating that this application (mbam.exe) has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. I have uninstalled via clean removal (2x) and reinstalled...the same error comes up as mbam tries to update. I can run the scan if I do not close out of the error and skip the update. The scan has produced no malicious software or errors.

I have attached three diagnostic log files that were recommended to add in another post if I was having issues with the software.

Hello anderson2283 and :welcome:

Thank you for the diagnostic logs. Your logs indicate the existence of ComboFix and some of your Visual C++ library had a recent deletion but still may require updates. Some traces of old Java versions remain and the presence of IE8, not updated to IE11, seems odd but maybe unrelated. Your event log errors may also warrant further examination. No immediate signs of infection were apparent but you would do well to have the Malware Removal Experts verify that.

I recommend following the advice from the topic: Available Assistance for Possibly Infected Computers and having one of the Malware Removal Experts assist you with looking into your issue.

If, as recommended, you do open a topic in Malware Removal Help, please make reference to this thread.

Thank you. :)

Thanks for your reply. In order to try and resolve the C++ library issue, I updated them to 10 and then took them off because they did not fix the issue. I downgraded to IE8 for compatibility issues with some programs. I have contacted support and have given them my files as well as some other requested files.
