I think something went wrong

Recommended Posts

This afternoon MBAM was asking me to reboot my computer but I was going somewhere so I just shut it down. After returning tonight and turning on my computer, the desktop looks completely different and lots of things are missing. Its almost as if its a fresh install or something. I can see icons for the programs I had, like Itunes, but when I try to open them they start as if I've never run them before. Please help. I've tried looking for the problem on your forums but couldn't seem to find a similar situation.

Hello and :welcome: , cmacy:

It sounds as if the malware infection may have caused system damage.

This sort of problem will need expert help.

So, for expert assistance, I suggest that you please follow the advice in this pinned topic: Available Assistance For Possibly Infected Computers.

>>If the system is so crippled that you cannot even run the requested preliminary scans, then please just start a new topic in the malware removal section anyway, explaining the situation.
A malware analyst will assist you with looking into your issue.

I don't think I had an infection..nothing comes up on the scans. I did some looking around on my hard drive and all my files are actually still on there. They're in the Users folder. Could they have been quarantined incorrectly? It's almost as if I'm on another users desktop, but it says Administrator like always.
