To try or not to try

Recommended Posts

Hello. This may not be an anserable question, but I thought I'd try anyway, since I have been using your free anti-virus for years with excellent results. I play as safe as possible on the net, and as an increasingly elderly gent, have rather conservative computer use -- no games, no wild stuff, stay away from obvious dangers, etc. I only pick up a virus, and usually nothing terrible, about twice a year, usually from a careless moment.

Anyway, since I rencenty noticed that my (W7) PC appears to get busy around midnight, I began to wonder if perhaps I might have a rootkit, wiht someone using the machine to send spam or something, since full anti-vrial scans with MSE and MB find nothing. Just a guess, and maybe it's W7 running its default daily defrag routine. My backups run hours later, and otherwise the machine shows no irregularities and runs well.

Finding great recommendations for MBAR, I looked into it, but am worried about the cautionary language, since I don't have the knowledge to repair serious problems. Again, my installation is very straightforward, software is all reputable and common, but it is a custom-assembled machine (Magic Micro Computers).

Perhaps I should just wait for your program to pass out of beta?
