BSOD caused by mwac.sys

Recommended Posts

To make a long story short: I was on the internet a couple of hours and out of the blue my barely one year old PC give me a BSOD referring to BAD_POOL_HEADER. I opened up WhoCrashed and left it to analyze the PC for a couple of minutes. It returned with the following statement:

On Thu 2014-05-15 18:24:06 GMT your computer crashed
crash dump file: C:\Windows\memory.dmp
uptime: 09:32:57
This was probably caused by the following module: mwac.sys (mwac+0x6025)
Bugcheck code: 0x19 (0x20, 0xFFFFFA800C87A3E0, 0xFFFFFA800C87A400, 0x4020008)
Error: BAD_POOL_HEADER
file path: C:\Windows\system32\drivers\mwac.sys
product: Malwarebytes Web Access Control
company: Malwarebytes Corporation
description: Malwarebytes Web Access Control
Bug check description: This indicates that a pool header is corrupt.
This appears to be a typical software driver bug and is not likely to be caused by a hardware problem. This might be a case of memory corruption. More often memory corruption happens because of software errors in buggy drivers, not because of faulty RAM modules.
A third party driver was identified as the probable root cause of this system error. It is suggested you look for an update for the following driver: mwac.sys (Malwarebytes Web Access Control, Malwarebytes Corporation).
Google query: Malwarebytes Corporation BAD_POOL_HEADER

1 crash dump have been found and analyzed. A third party driver has been identified to be causing system crashes on your computer. It is strongly suggested that you check for updates for these drivers on their company websites. Click on the links below to search with Google for updates for these drivers:

mwac.sys (Malwarebytes Web Access Control, Malwarebytes Corporation)

It is clearly telling me something went wrong with Malwarebytes. This has never happend before and I run weekly scans with Avast, Malwarebytes, and MRT and it is as clean as can be. Any clues what may have caused this?
