multiple instances of explorer.exe in task manager

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone any help would be appreciated.

Yesterday I wasn't careful and opened a compressed (.zip) file from a Facebook private message, which contained probably a virus. (The same message was sent automatically to my FB friends with different file names)

Since that time my laptop runs with problem, and in the task manager I have multiple of explorer.exe files.

1 of them are permanently eats more and more memory and causes after a certain time a break of the Windows Explorer. It seems be recovered automatically but the process begins again and again.

Also at the weekend my cousin's son downloaded online games and other sites, which also could cause the problmes.

I am a simple user, with foreign native language (HU), so I'd like to ask for your patience if I wouldn't be understandable or wouldn't understand at first what you wrote and will ask back.

OS: Windows Vista Home Basic, SP2

I am using for Internet Mozilla Firefox (main browser), sometimes IE 8 and Google Chrome.

I made a full scan with AVG Free - no viruses were found; and with Norman Malware cleaner - it had found some potencial 'infections' and these had been removed.

System was restarted more times but I still have the problem...

Thank you for your help in advance.

Regards

Skoumi
